WHOLESOME SUNDAYS IN CANBERRA | KINGSTON FORESHORE
Hello everyone, hope you're having a lovely Sunday! Many people will be starting to feel the exam season dread right about now, and I can't thank this year abroad enough for giving me a year to escape until I'll be living in the library come September! Miriam and I had a cute and wholesome day enjoying the local delights of Canberra and I really recommend anyone else takes a day (or even just a half-day) to de-stress and enjoy something in your local area. Its great to clear your mind of negative thoughts and soak in some Vitamin D and fresh air before returning to the study grind!
We went to The Old Bus Depot Markets in Kingston Foreshore this morning, as surprisingly we've been here almost a year and never been! There was a wool theme - with almost everything being about all thing sheep, alpaca, or any other animal you can get wool from. It was really cute to see some local artists displaying their hard work. Aside from the wool products, arguably the more exciting part was the food side of the market - with everything from Jordanian cuisine and fresh bread, to homemade gnocchi and gorilla hotdogs??
After our walk around the markets, we decided to sit down and enjoy some iced coffee - because you can't go wrong with coffee of course! We stumbled across the busy Local Press Cafe, which unknowingly was on my list of coffee and brunch places I wanted to visit in Canberra! We had a lovely table outside surrounded by numerous doggos!
I've come to notice Australian's love their banana bread - and this one was quite different from most I've tried. It was much more filling, with a hearty slice filled with oats and drizzled with honey and fruit. Perfect midday snack in the sun!
We then spontaneously got the bus up to the Fyshwick Food Markets, and grabbed some bargain fruits - such as $1 melon which I'm devouring now. There were some lovely food spots dotted around the edges of the market and we definitely want to come back another time for lunch!
Hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend, and remember to do something wholesome if stress starts to take over!
