FOODIE SPOTS IN BUDAPEST

As we're in a time of quarantine at the minute, I thought I would take this time to reminisce on when we could freely travel and look back to when I went on a weekend away to Budapest. This trip was such a foodie trip, with so many delicious meals consumed! If any of you have a potential trip to Budapest planned after COVID-19 blows over, hopefully you can take a look below and add some of these spots to your to-do list!

HUMMUS BAR

Hummus Bar is a chain of (you guessed it) hummus restaurants in Budapest. You'll see them on most street corners! On our first night of exploring, we came across this Hummus Bar opposite the university in Budapest and thought this was an ideal spot for our first meal. You can even connect to Eduroam from here thanks to the university opposite! If you love hummus, this is an ideal spot. The fresh flatbreads also come out to you piping hot from the kitchen so you can't get any better than that!

SZIMPLY

Szimply is one of the most popular brunch spots in Budapest and it's recommended you go early to get a seat as it is a small place and fills up fast! Szimply is located down an alley way which opens up into a courtyard which I presume you can sit outside during the summer months (we went in February). The cafe's twin coffee shop Kontakt is located just opposite and you can go over there and order your coffees to drink with your food!

ESPRESSO EMBASSY

When searching for coffee shops in Budapest, Espresso Embassy comes out as one of the best. Don't be tempted by the likes of Costa Coffee nearby! Set in an almost cave like atmosphere with beautiful brick ceilings, this is an ideal spot to rest your feet and enjoy some delicious coffee in between sightseeing!

ANTRÉ

For one night we decided to go boujee and head to a fancy restaurant as you can get exceptional restaurant food in Budapest for a fraction of the price in the UK. We had a selection of typical Hungarian cuisine washed down with cocktails and wine. I definitely recommend Antré if you're looking for a fancy meal one night!

STIKA

On our way to the Hungarian baths, we stopped at Stika for breakfast. I had the most delicious eggs royale while Maya had a delicious yet simple porridge. Washed down with some of the freshest orange juice. This spot is also super popular and busy so going early is advised for breakfast. I also believe it turns into a restaurant and wine bar at night so this would definitely be a good spot for either time of the day!

VEGAN LOVE

Last but not least, we visited Vegan Love on the North side of the river while on our way to visit the famous Citadella. To all vegans and non-vegans out there, you must try this place! The hot dogs were to die for and you genuinely couldn't tell it wasn't real meat. Definitely a must-go while in that area of the city!
